Committed to training stakeholders on the modalities employed by ranking agencies in doing their works, the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), has organized a one day workshop tagged, “Exploring the Sustainable Development Goals for better University Ranking “.

The workshop which held at the University Main Campus in Ogbomoso, during the week, was targeted at refreshing players in the academic community on how their researches can be more relevant, more visible and more compliant to global expectations.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, at the opening ceremony noted that Academic and Research Institutions all over the world are being rated by their research outputs, adding that one critical yardstick for rating is the relevance and compliance, with the achievement in relation with sustainable development goals.

He added that one of the key ways in which we can contribute to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) is through research that provides solution to global challenges such as climate change, poverty, environmental issues and inequality.

Liasu observed that "Our University has a rich tradition of research and we are well positioned to take a leading role in addressing the SDGs by incorporating them into our research.

He concluded by saying "the University has a responsibility to educate the students about SDGs and inspire them to take action".
