LAUTECH holds week-long convocation
The authorities of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso has announced programmes for the 15th Convocation ceremonies of the 33 years old University.
The programmes begin tomorrow Friday April 21st 2023 between 1:00pm to 2:00pm, with Special Muslim prayers at the Institution's Central Mosque, in Ogbomoso.
Signed by the Registrar of the University who is also Secretary to the Governing Council and Senate, Dr. Kayode Ogunleye, the statement explained that Christians and well wishers will take turn between 8:00 am and 10:00 am on Sunday April 23rd, 2023; to converge at the Interdenominational Chapel to thank God for the wonders of the past year even as they plead for a renewed beginning.
It was learnt that Press Conference to officially announce the various events will hold on April 26, 2023 at the Council Chamber in the Senate Building of the University, between 9:00sm and 10:00am.
On the same day, Research Fair and exhibition will hold at the Senate Building Foyer, between 10;00 am and 4:00 pm, while Alumni Day will also run at the Hall between 11:00am and 4:00pm.
The release further indicated that Convocation Lecture will hold at the Great Hall, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, from 10:00 am to noon of Thursday April 27, 2023.
Other programmes to run on Thursday include: Convocation play and Cultural performance at the Amphitheatre between 2:00pm and 3:00pm, and Cocktail by 3: 00pm at the same venue.
By 10:00am on Friday April 28, 2023, dignitaries will converge on the Council Chamber at the Senate Building for the Investiture of the Paramount Ruler of Emohua in Rivers State, His Royal Majesty Sir Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, as the sixth Chancellor of the University, after which admission to First Degrees and Award of Prizes will take place at the Great Hall/Amphitheatre, starting from 11:00am.
On Saturday April 29, 2023, which is the sixth and last day of the week-long programme, Award of Higher and Honorary degrees shall be taking place at the Great Hall and Amphitheatre, as from 10:00am.
The statement said people who do not have physical access to some of the programmes can enjoy the live-streaming options that have been specially put together on the social media, for the 2023 Convocation ceremony.
